A visit to the graveyard

In September 2019, 4th Class spend a wonderful few hours exploring the historical grounds of Monasterboice Tower and Cemetery.  Charlie Brodigan gave a super tour of the tower, Muirdeach's cross and all the history connected to the ancient site.  Representatives from the OPW were on hand and the children had the unique experience of climbing up to the top of Muirdeach's Cross to see up close the beautiful stone carvings and learn all about their origins.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their experience.

The Great Famine

4th class have been busy this month reading the wonderful Marita Conlon McKenna novel - Under The Hawthorn Tree.  In History they explored and studied The Great Famine and have produced some amazing projects all about that very significant period in Irish History.  Well done everyone!


Christmas Stories!

This month 4th class proudly wrote and published their Christmas Stories!  They were excellent!  Just before the holidays we did a Read To Me session with 2nd Class, who thoroughly enjoyed listening to the children's stories.  Well done and Happy Christmas to you all.


Australia

4th class have been busy since their return to school learning all about Australia.  They made some beautiful examples of Aboriginal Art which are proudly being displayed for all to enjoy!


Millmount Museum

4th class went to the Museum in Millmount today and learned all about the history of Drogheda.


World Book Day Buddy Reading March 5th 2020
