Home/School Communication
We very much welcome parents’ interest in their child’s progress. A formal Parent-Teacher meeting takes place each year during November. It is important that you attend this meeting to keep in touch with your child’s progress. Informal meetings can be arranged anytime throughout the year by making an appointment for a mutually convenient time with the teacher.
Written reports are sent home at the end of summer term. If you have any worries about your child’s progress, behaviour or otherwise school related, please ring and we can arrange a return phone call or appointment. You will always be welcome.
The parish priest organises a meeting for parents of pupils who will be receiving the Sacraments of Penance, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
All notices for parents will be communicated through the Aladdin Connect app. Please ensure that you have your phone set to receive notifications from Aladdin Connect to ensure you receive communications from the school.
Phone calls will be made to parent to discuss an immediate issue.
General Notes
- St. Patricks’s NS uses the Aladdin Connect app for communication between school and home. You will receive an email with instructions on how to download and access the app.
- Please ensure you enable notifications from the app and keep an eye on the Aladdin Noticeboard as this will be the main method of communication used by the school.
- You can contact the school office via the Aladdin Connect app, by telephoning our school secretary or sending a note via your child’s homework diary/folder.
- A note from the parent will be necessary to permit your child to leave school early or attend appointments. This can be submitted via the Aladdin Connect app.
- If arriving or departing during the school day, please sign your child ‘in/out’ at the main school door - the book is located just inside the door on your right as you enter.
- If your child is absent from school through illness or for any other reason, please enter the reason for this absence when you receive the absent notification on the app.
- Requests for money will be communicated and can be paid using the Aladdin Connect app. If sending money into school for any reason, please make sure that it is put into an envelope with your child’s name and what the money is for clearly written on the front.
- Parents will be contacted if their child becomes ill or has an accident at school – at teacher’s discretion.
- Please ensure that you provide the school with a current contact number (home, mobile and work) and that your contact details are correct within the Aladdin Connect app.
- Parents will be contacted with regard to pupil’s neglect of schoolwork, homework, disruptive behaviour etc., should the need arise.
- All personal property such as coats, jumpers, cardigans, schoolbooks, copies, lunch boxes etc. should be clearly marked with your child’s name.
- Please ensure your child’s school bag is large enough to hold their belongings.
- Please ensure that your child has folders and all the requisite books and copies in their bag each day.
- We recommend that you check your child regularly for head lice and that you treat immediately. Please inform the teacher so that other parents can be notified of the possible risk of infection.
- Parents are not permitted to send party invitations to school – it is suggested that parents in a particular class set up a WhatsApp group for this purpose.
- The school, together with the Parents’ Council, has introduced a voluntary agreement called ‘Cárta Cúig’ whereby parents agree to give €5 in a card as a birthday present if your child has been invited to a classmate’s birthday party.
